📦 Step 1: Order Processing

In-stock marine supply orders are typically processed and shipped within 1-2 business days. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. Once your order ships, you will receive a shipping confirmation with tracking information by email.

🚚 Step 2: Transit

Transit time begins once your order has shipped. Delivery timelines vary based on your location, the carrier, item size, shipping method, and whether the product ships by parcel or freight. Tracking updates will be available once the carrier scans the shipment.

✅ Step 3: Delivery and Inspection

Your marine product will be delivered by parcel carrier or freight carrier depending on the item. Please inspect your shipment upon arrival and report any visible damage quickly. This is especially important for marine electronics, electrical components, dock hardware, safety equipment, and oversized freight items.

🎁 Smaller Items, Parcel Delivery

Smaller marine products such as hardware, safety items, lighting, electrical components, maintenance supplies, accessories, and replacement parts are typically delivered by standard parcel carriers. You will receive tracking information by email once your order ships. Delivery time varies based on destination and carrier service.

📦 Oversized Items, Freight Delivery

Large marine items such as select dock equipment, oversized hardware, larger electronics, bulky boating accessories, seating, ladders, storage products, and other large items may ship by freight carrier. Freight deliveries are typically curbside unless otherwise stated.

The freight driver is not responsible for moving items into a garage, marina slip, boat, dock, backyard, storage unit, or installation location. Please make arrangements in advance if assistance is needed.

Parcel and freight carriers are used depending on product size, weight, and shipping requirements.

Portside Direct works to ship orders safely and efficiently. Many marine products include sensitive parts, finishes, wiring, glass, plastic housings, stainless components, brackets, terminals, or packaging that should be inspected after delivery. Please keep all packaging until you confirm that your order arrived complete and undamaged.

⚠️ Important: Inspect Before Signing for Freight

For freight deliveries of oversized marine products, please inspect the shipment before signing the delivery receipt. Signing without noting visible damage may be considered acceptance of the shipment in good condition.

If visible damage is present:

  • Take clear photos of all sides of the pallet, carton, packaging, and damaged product.
  • Refuse the shipment or clearly note the damage on the delivery receipt before signing.
  • Notify us immediately at customerservice@portsidedirect.com with photos and order details.

Tip: For marine electronics, lighting, hardware, dock items, seating, ladders, and oversized accessories, inspect housings, brackets, terminals, screens, lenses, fittings, and mounting points before the driver leaves whenever possible.

Damage Claims and Resolution

📸 Parcel Shipment Damage or Order Errors

If a parcel shipment arrives damaged, incomplete, or incorrect, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery. Include clear photos of:

  • The shipping label
  • The outside packaging
  • Interior packaging and protective materials
  • The damaged or incorrect item
  • Any manufacturer label, model number, SKU, or barcode if available

We will review the claim and help arrange a replacement, credit, or other resolution as appropriate. Please retain the product and all packaging materials, as they may be required for carrier review or return shipment.

🔍 Concealed Damage

If concealed damage is discovered after delivery, you must notify us within 48 hours of receipt and retain all packaging materials.

After 48 hours from receipt, we may be unable to file damage claims with the carrier on your behalf.

Special Delivery Situations

🏘️ Marinas, Gated Communities, Storage Facilities, and Difficult Access Locations

If your order is shipping to a marina, boatyard, dock, storage facility, gated community, private road, narrow road, island access point, commercial address, or location with limited truck access, please contact us before placing your order or leave clear delivery notes at checkout.

Large freight items require adequate access, unloading space, and a safe location for curbside delivery. Additional carrier charges may apply for missed appointments, redelivery, limited access delivery, appointment scheduling, storage, or special handling.

🌴 Hawaii, Alaska, Islands, and U.S. Territories

Shipping to Hawaii, Alaska, islands, remote destinations, and U.S. territories may require prior approval. Additional freight charges, carrier limitations, or longer lead times may apply.

Orders placed without prior shipping confirmation may be paused, adjusted, or canceled if standard shipping is not available to the destination.

Orders returned due to incorrect or incomplete address information may be subject to additional shipping, return, storage, or redelivery charges.

Pro Tip: If shipping to a marina, boatyard, or storage facility, confirm that the location can receive packages or freight before placing the order.

Special Orders and Lead Times

Some marine products may have extended lead times and may be classified as special order, manufacturer direct, oversized, freight required, or built-to-order. This can include select marine electronics, dock products, seating, ladders, covers, safety equipment, electrical products, and specialty boating accessories.

Carrier Delays and Seasonal Demand

Portside Direct will provide tracking information when available, but final delivery timing is controlled by the carrier once the shipment is in transit.
